(Year published).\u00a0<em>Title<\/em> (Edition). City published: Publisher.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kuhn, T. (2012).\u00a0<em>The Structure of Scientific Revolution<\/em>\u00a0(4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0ed.). Chicago: University of Chicago Press.<\/li>\n<li>Saunders, G. (2017)\u00a0<em>Lincoln in the Bardo<\/em>\u00a0(1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0ed.). New York: Random House.<\/li>\n<li>Wootton, G. (1970)\u00a0<em>Interest-groups<\/em>\u00a0(1<sup>st<\/sup> ed.). Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Prentice-Hall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remember<\/strong>: Reference lists should be <strong>ordered alphabetically<\/strong>\u00a0on the basis of the last name of the authors of each work. Should an author appear multiple times, students are required to list entries in chronological order, from earliest to the most recent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Citing books with two or more authors<\/h3>\n<p>When citing a book or source with two or more authors, students are required to follow the same formatting as when citing a book from a single author; namely, inverting author names (last name provided first) and writing the first name as an initial, before displaying the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Year of publication (in brackets)<\/li>\n<li>Title (in italics)<\/li>\n<li>Edition (in brackets)<\/li>\n<li>City and\/or state\/country<\/li>\n<li>Publisher<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For <a href=\"https:\/\/perlegoknowledgebase.kinsta.cloud\/how-to-write-in-text-citations-in-apa-style\/\">in-text citations<\/a>, when referring to a source with more than three authors, students can use the Latin term \u201cet alia\u201d (which means \u201cand others\u201d and is abbreviated to \u201c<strong>et al.<\/strong>\u201d). This abbreviation cannot be used for reference lists however, as students are required to name all the authors, even if there are a dozen of them.<\/p>\n<p>A book with two or more authors will appear as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Author 1 , Author 2 &amp; Author 3 (Year published). Title (Edition). Publisher.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arciero, G. &amp; Bondolfi, G. (2009)\u00a0<em>Selfhood, Identity and Personality Styles<\/em>\u00a0(1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0ed.). Chichester: Wiley-Blackwell.<\/li>\n<li>Gravelle, H. &amp; Rees, R. (1981)\u00a0<em>Microeconomics<\/em>\u00a0(1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0ed.). London: Longman.<\/li>\n<li>Berger, P. &amp; Luckmann, T. (1967<em>) The Social Construction of Reality: A Treatise in the Sociology of Knowledge<\/em>\u00a0(1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0ed.). New York: Anchor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Citing chapters in edited books<\/h3>\n<p>Citing chapters in edited books and anthologies is more complicated than citing books written by one or even multiple authors, as you are required to reference both the chapter\u2019s authors and the anthology\u2019s editors.<\/p>\n<p>Notice however that the chapter title is\u00a0<strong>not italicized<\/strong>\u00a0to distinguish it from the book\u2019s title:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Last name, initial. (Year). Chapter Title. In Editor Name (ed(s))\u00a0<em>Book Title\u00a0<\/em>(Edition). City: Publisher.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Forester, J. (2008).
